Who the Retreat Is For
This retreat is for individuals who sense there is "more" available to them—more clarity, more presence, more connection—and who are ready to explore that possibility in an intentional environment. You might feel the pull to step away from the constant pace of daily life and create space to hear your own inner voice more clearly. Perhaps you're drawn to experiences that balance physical challenge with emotional depth, or you're seeking a community of like-minded people navigating their own paths of growth. This retreat welcomes adults who value authenticity over perfection, who are open to honest self-reflection, and who believe that transformation can be both grounded and joyful.
Retreat Description
A Deeply Nourishing Pause in the Redwoods
Surrounded by the grounding presence of towering coastal redwoods and the expansive energy of the Northern California coastline, the Mendocino Reset creates a rhythm that feels both restorative and awakening. This isn't about escaping your life—it's about returning to yourself. Through daily Power Yoga practices, guided Meditation, and thoughtful Inquiry Work, participants are invited to peel back the layers of stress, expectation, and old patterns that accumulate in the rush of modern living.
When those layers soften, something essential often emerges: a deeper sense of self-trust, courage, and aliveness. The stillness of the forest and the vastness of the Pacific Ocean create natural conditions for reflection and renewal. With Sauna Sessions to support release and integration, and intentional downtime woven throughout, this retreat honors the truth that growth doesn't have to be harsh or overwhelming—it can be warm, grounded, and even joyful.
Strength and Softness in Equal Measure
Facilitators Alyssa Dasso and Gudrun Bjarnadottir bring complementary teaching styles rooted in Vinyasa and Power traditions. Their approach balances challenge with ease, courage with heart. Alyssa's classes are known for being balanced, lighthearted, and real—she blends strength-building sequences with moments of humor and genuine connection. Gudrun, born and raised in Iceland, infuses her teaching with both fire and warmth, creating spaces where participants feel invited to move beyond their comfort zones while feeling fully supported.
Together, they facilitate an experience where yoga becomes more than physical practice—it becomes a pathway back to one's inner voice and authentic self. Daily movement sessions take place in Spirit Camp's wood-stove-warmed yoga studio, welcoming all levels. Between practices, participants engage in workshops exploring different aspects of self-discovery, building confidence, resilience, and a stronger relationship with themselves through movement, inquiry, and community.
Space to Listen Inward
The purpose of this transformational yoga retreat is simple yet profound: to create space—physically, emotionally, and mentally—so you can hear yourself more clearly. In our everyday lives, the inner voice that guides us toward what we truly want often gets drowned out by responsibility, distraction, and the relentless pace of modern expectations. This retreat offers permission to slow down, breathe deeply, and remember what becomes possible when you give yourself space to truly listen.
What emerges for many participants is a lighter, clearer sense of connection—not just to themselves, but to others who are on similar journeys. The Mendocino yoga retreat experience includes healthy, nourishing meals prepared by a local chef, free time to explore downtown Mendocino and local beaches, opportunities for plunges and hikes, stargazing, and campfires. There's an invitation to unplug from phones and email, to be present with the land, the practice, and each other.
Return to Your Truth
AG Retreats was born from Alyssa and Gudrun's shared belief that growth doesn't require harshness. It can be warm. It can be joyful. Strength and softness can coexist. Over and over, they've witnessed how transformative it becomes when people are given time, tools, and community to slow down and listen inward. This Northern California yoga retreat embodies that philosophy—creating conditions where participants can return to their breath, return to their bodies, and return to the quiet truth within themselves.
Whether you arrive feeling burnt out, disconnected, or simply curious about what might shift when you step away from routine, the Mendocino Reset meets you where you are. Many participants leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more deeply connected to themselves and others—carrying forward a renewed sense of what's possible when they trust themselves enough to listen.
This experience is perfect for those searching for: transformational yoga retreat, self-discovery retreat, Mendocino yoga retreat, Northern California yoga retreat, personal transformation retreat, healing and growth retreat.
About The Retreat Facilitators: Alyssa Dasso & Gudrun Bjarnadottir
Alyssa Dasso has been teaching yoga since 2016 and was first introduced to the practice at just 12 years old. Influenced by many styles over the years, she gravitated toward Vinyasa and Hot Power traditions that allow for creativity, challenge, and flow. Her classes are balanced, lighthearted, and real—blending strength with ease and depth with moments of humor and connection. Alyssa believes her students are her greatest teachers and approaches each class with humility, presence, and care. Yoga has helped her step into her most authentic and empowered self, and she feels honored to share the tools of this practice to help others do the same. On retreat, Alyssa brings a grounded, welcoming presence that helps participants feel supported, connected, and at ease as they explore growth both on and off the mat.
Gudrun Bjarnadottir, born and raised in Iceland, blends strength and warmth in her teaching and facilitation. A 500-hour certified yoga teacher (RYT) who has been teaching for over a decade, Gudrun trained in several different yoga styles before discovering Baptiste Power Yoga—a practice that shifted something both physically and mentally for her. She sensed a peace of mind like never before where her breath and movement became one. With a background in power yoga, coaching, and transformational group work, she creates spaces that encourage courage, self-trust, and deeper connection. Her approach is both energizing and heartfelt, inviting people to move beyond their comfort zones while feeling fully supported. Gudrun believes yoga is more than physical practice—it is a pathway back to one's inner voice and authentic self. She is passionate about helping others build confidence, resilience, and a stronger relationship with themselves through movement, inquiry, and community. Coming from the land of "Fire and Ice," she brings fire into the practice while reminding students that life can be serious enough—you don't have to take yourself seriously on your mat too.
Together, Alyssa and Gudrun created AG Retreats from a shared vision: to offer spaces where people can step away from the noise of daily life and reconnect with the quiet truth within themselves. They have witnessed firsthand the power of stepping away from routine and entering a supportive, intentional environment, and they are dedicated to creating experiences where growth is grounded, warm, and even joyful.
