Sound Meditation

A Deeply Restorative Sonic Journey

Person sitting cross-legged on a colorful rug, holding a singing bowl with one hand and using a mallet with the other hand to produce sound. In the background, there are additional bowls and some green plants.
Person lying on a pillow with an eye mask, receiving sound therapy with hand-held wooden chimes.

Similar to a sound bath, during a sound meditation you’ll lie down comfortably with pillows, blankets, and eyes closed. For 1.5 to 3 hours, Julian will guide you on a sonic journey created with a variety of overtone emitting instruments. These include bronze Himalayan singing bowls, a 32” symphonic gong, frame drums, koshi chimes, a shruti box, tuning forks, and much more.

A simple breathwork and vocal toning practice are usually included at the start to help settle the mind and soothe the body. Actively listening to the sounds during the meditative experience lends to a wildly imaginative, dreamlike journey.

The result is deeply restful and restorative for the nervous system. Your body can shed subtle layers of stress, while the mind settles into inner stillness and receives insightful guidance.

A man appears to be playing a drum while a woman lying on the floor with a blanket over her, wearing an eye mask in a cozy, plant-filled room.
A woman lying in bed with a purple sleep mask on, while a person nearby holds a set of metal tongs and appears to be preparing to place them on her.

Julian Hunter

Portrait of a smiling man with long hair and a beard, wearing a tan jacket and a brown scarf, in a forest with blurred trees and sunlight in the background.

Julian combines a decade of meditation teaching and his sensitive musical ear to create unique therapeutic sound experiences for his clients. In 2021, he completed a 100-hour training with renowned ethnomusicologist Alexandre Tannous and master sound trainer David Shemesh to further hone his instrumental skills.

As a steward of Spirit Camp, Julian aims to create a safe and nurturing environment for people to self-heal and connect with their authentic selves, community, and the outdoors. Forever curious in his desire to grow into his wholeness, Julian continues to explore a wide range of spiritual practices that he weaves into his work.

As a facilitator, his intention is to guide self-healing where you’re empowered to follow your own inner guidance. Sound, in this case, is a means for your body to activate its own natural state of healing.
